This research paper, which I wrote as part of an Honors Contract for my Organizational Communication course, seeks to identify the significant factors that influence cross-functional team success, as well as the most effective strategies for promoting collaboration among cross-functional team members. Drawing from previous studies and models, I identify five key drivers of cross-functional team success before discussing the four developmental dimensions that characterize the process by which groups of individuals transform into collaborative teams. Finally, I suggest effective strategies to promote cross-functional team collaboration.
